SUMMARY:Teacher & Assessor Programme
DESCRIPTION:This 3-month Teacher & Assessor programme runs over I semester and suits senior stylists\, salon owners\, managers\, barbers and beauticians. The programme will provide participants with the skills and knowledge related to teaching and assessing the learning.\n\nCourse Outline\n\nUnit 1 - Understanding roles\, responsibilities and relationships in education \n\nThis unit will provide participants with knowledge around legal responsibilities\, equality and diversity\, individual needs of learners\, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and participant's role as a teacher and superior for staff and students.\n\nUnit 2 - Facilitation of learning & development\n\nAt the completion of this module participants will:\n\n\n	complete and plan their class reflecting their knowledge and understanding of the teaching training cycle\,\n	understand strengths and limitations of their own role \n	understand how to motivate staff and students\, ground rules and teaching & learning resources\n	understand the grow model\n	understand the risk assessment\n	be familiar with minutes of meetings\, tutor log\, scheme of work\, staff & student feedback\n	understand the importance of staff and student's attendance\n	perform a micro-teach session - 15 min -1 hour teaching session to a group of at least 5 or more people and complete the evaluation form from the students about the class. This teaching session will be recorded.\n\n\nUnit 3 - Understanding Assessment in Education and Training\n\nAt the end of the session participants will have to complete a written assignment reflecting their knowledge around the purpose of assessment\, different assessment types\, how to conduct the assessments\, understanding the involvement of learners in assessment\, reasons for constructive feedback and effective recording and keeping of assessments. The participants will learn how to perform holistic assessment of students and staff\, will learn about RPL (Prior Learning Recognition)\n\nUnit 4/5 - Occupational and Vocational Assessing\, Staff and Students\n\nAt the completion of this module participants will learn how to plan & prepare:\n\n\n	the assessment\n	judging and feedback for assessing\n	record & liaise with internal and external staff for assessment (QA)\n	class & work management\n	skill assessing staff and students\n	assessing students with physical\, literacy\, language difficulties\n	how to put adjustment in place for staff and students\n	how students can appeal and complain\n	Confidentiality and Data Protection Policies\n\n\nThe participants will learn about awarding organisations e.g. VTCT\, City & Guilds\, QQI etc\,). Each trainee assessor will assess live students in the hair & beauty industry\, will observe the exams\, assignments and mark their work with full guidance.
