Training/Education Services
St. Gabriel's Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity that aims
to improve the lives of children living with disabilities, helping them to reach their full
potential and to support their families. In December 2021, St. Gabriel's Foundation
added a second Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT) to their services and deliver
a range of specialist services and therapy interventions to children with all levels of
disability in the Midwest region. The teams consist of physiotherapists, speech and
language therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers and nurses.
They work with children from birth to 18 years to address key areas in a child's
development such as functional skills, communication & behaviour support, emotional
regulation and language development. There are over 1,000 children with all levels of
disability on the caseload. They are children with complex needs, with a diagnosis of
autism, cerebral palsy, developmental disorder, profound learning disabilities and some
children with life-limiting conditions. St. Gabriel's Foundation includes a school with an
adjoining nursing department where 64 children with profound physical disabilities
attend. We also have a purpose-built hydrotherapy pool and a specialist orthotic
department both of which operate as social enterprises and provide vital services to
people in the wider community. In 2021, St. Gabriel's opened an overnight
children's regional respite house, the first of it's kind in the region.
