This 3-month Teacher & Assessor programme runs over I semester and suits senior stylists, salon owners, managers, barbers and beauticians. The programme will provide participants with the skills and knowledge related to teaching and assessing the learning.
Course Outline
Unit 1 - Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education
This unit will provide participants with knowledge around legal responsibilities, equality and diversity, individual needs of learners, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and participant's role as a teacher and superior for staff and students.
Unit 2 - Facilitation of learning & development
At the completion of this module participants will:
Unit 3 - Understanding Assessment in Education and Training
At the end of the session participants will have to complete a written assignment reflecting their knowledge around the purpose of assessment, different assessment types, how to conduct the assessments, understanding the involvement of learners in assessment, reasons for constructive feedback and effective recording and keeping of assessments. The participants will learn how to perform holistic assessment of students and staff, will learn about RPL (Prior Learning Recognition)
Unit 4/5 - Occupational and Vocational Assessing, Staff and Students
At the completion of this module participants will learn how to plan & prepare:
The participants will learn about awarding organisations e.g. VTCT, City & Guilds, QQI etc,). Each trainee assessor will assess live students in the hair & beauty industry, will observe the exams, assignments and mark their work with full guidance.
